Ingredients
2 cups fresh cherries, pitted
2/3 cup water
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1 Tbs lime juice
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups lime juice
2 cups water
2 cups club soda
ice, for serving
lime slices, for garnish
boozy cherries, for garnish (see recipe)
Directions
  1. To make the syrup, combine the cherries, water, sugar and lime juice in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Cook for 20 minutes, or until liquid reduces and becomes thick and syrupy. Strain the syrup into a jar. Discard the remaining cherry skins.
  2. Prepare the limeade by adding the sugar and lime juice to a pitcher. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Add the water and club soda. Add a tablespoon of cherry syrup to the bottom of each glass. Add ice, and pour in the limeade. Garnish with lime slices and boozy cherries.

BOOZY CHERRIES: Fill a canning jar with fresh pitted cherries. Add granulated sugar until it reaches one-third of the jar. Pour in your choice of alcohol (vodka, bourbon, gin or rum) until the jar is full. Seal the jar tightly. Shake well to help dissolve the sugar. Let the mixture soak for at least 4 hours in the refrigerator. For a more intense flavor, the cherries can be soaked for up to 8 weeks in the fridge.
