Sutter Home has been producing this classic, fragrant, sweet wine for over 50 years—in fact, Moscato was the very first wine we bottled. To craft this lovely wine, our winemakers cap and drain the juice to increase the varietal intensity, and forego malolactic fermentation to maintain the wine’s refreshing acidity. To preserve its fresh, fragrant aromas and flavors, our Moscato is cold-fermented at 50°F and aged entirely in stainless steel tanks.

To create Stella Rosa Wines, the Riboli family chose the region of Asti, a province in Piedmont, Italy, as the source for its aromatic grapes, which have become the hallmark for the Stella Rosa style of wines. The area of Asti has particular significance to the family, as it is the birthplace of the family matriarch, Maddalena Riboli. The first Stella Rosa was Moscato D’Asti, which has become a flagship of the brand. Soon after, Stella Rosa Rosso was created – the brand’s first semi-sweet, semi-sparkling red wine blend, and first wine of its kind to be brought to America from Asti. Stella Rosa Black Cherry Semi-Sweet Red Wine is a proprietary blend of several red grape varietals. The wine is combined with natural flavors of natural black cherry distillates & purée. The grapes are harvested, pressed, centrifuged, and then held cold as juice at 28 degrees Fahrenheit. The juice is fermented at various intervals throughout the year allowing the wine to remain fresh and delicate. The juice is fermented in Charmat-style, pressurized tanks. During this process, the alcohol is created in tandem with the wine’s natural carbonation. Once the desired sweetness is achieved, the wine is centrifuged and bottled. The alcohol level stays at approximately 5% and contains 10% residual sugar. Its natural acidity and low pH strike the perfect balance with the wine’s inherent sweetness. It is not cloying or heavy. Serve chilled by-the-glass, pour over ice, or mix with your favorite spirit for an all natural, fruit-forward cocktail.
