After more than 160 years, C. H. Guenther & Son is still going strong. Offering premium packaged frozen foods, the company was founded when Carl Hilmar Guenther left Germany at the age of 22 to live the American dream. He spent time in several areas of the United States before arriving in Texas in 1851. Eight years later, he moved his permanent milling operation from the German community of Fredericksburg to the larger town of San Antonio. By the time of his death in 1902, Guenther could see that the company he built on the Texas frontier had a good chance of continuing successfully through the next generation and beyond, still flourishing today. C.H Guenther & Son currently offers several household staples like flour, baking and biscuit mixes, gravy mixes, and tortilla products under the brand names Pioneer, Morrison, and White Wings.
