Mother’s Day Cake Decorating – Fourteen partners spent several hours preparing the cakes and decorations for each student who bought a cake to decorate for their mother. They went to three schools over a two-day period and assisted the students with decorating each cake. They volunteered for 74 hours.

NE Texas Children’s Museum – Partners volunteered to assist with the Easter Egg Hunt that was held on the grounds of the museum. There were over 250 children that participated.

Dedication of the new Mural – Brookshire’s donated the hot dogs, and cake. The store director attended for two hours.

Breakfast with Santa – Two partners volunteered to assist with serving breakfast at the annual Breakfast with Santa at the Northeast Texas Children’s Museum.

Halloween Night – Six partners volunteered for twelve hours handing out candy and prizes to over 1,000 children on the downtown square on Halloween night.

NE Texas Children’s Museum – Eight partners helped pull all of the exhibits off the floor at the museum so that the floors could be cleaned and waxed and then they rebuilt the exhibits. They volunteered for 12 hours.

Board Meeting – Store Director Kris Garrison is on the board for the North East Texas Children’s Museum and attends monthly meetings.

Relay for Life – Partners participated in the annual Relay for Life event at Texas A & M University Commerce. They sold over 1,000 feet to raise money for Relay and they had thirteen partners that walked all night. They volunteered for over fifty two hours.

Tigerfest – Brookshire’s hosted the annual Tigerfest in the parking lot of the store. The event was held to raise money for various teams and clubs at Commerce High School. Partners organized games and handed out free prizes for local children.

Breakfast with Santa – Partners participated with the NE Texas Children’s Museum and volunteered for twenty hours helping with children that visited Santa.

Breakfast with Santa – Partners set up tables and participated in crafts, cleaning up and serving breakfast to children at NE Texas Children’s Museum. Five partners volunteered for twenty hours and there were over three hundred children that attended.

Halloween on the Square – Partners volunteered for sixteen hours at the annual Trick or Treat event held on the Commerce Town Square. This event provides a safe and controlled environment for children in the community.

Texas A & M Commerce Homecoming – Brookshire partners cooked and served over three hundred hot dogs to students, faculty and fans at the homecoming tailgate event. They volunteered for twenty-eight hours.

Chili Cook-Off – All proceeds from event benefited Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital and the event raised over $20,000.00 Brookshire’s sponsored and competed in the cook-off and placed 5th. Partners volunteered for sixteen hours.

Pumpkin Decorating – Event was held in the store parking lot and children were invited to decorate and personalize their pumpkins.

Tailgate Texas A & M Commerce – Partners handed out refreshments to students, fans, and other local businesses in the community. They partnered with other businesses and played games while supported the Lions.

Pumpkin Patch Pictures – Partners took pictures of customer’s children in the pumpkin patch that was set up outside the store. They had a fully restored 1946 tractor in the pumpkin patch. They volunteered for eight hours for this event.

Night Out – This event is an annual event put on by local law enforcement at Texas A & M University as a safe night out for the children of Commerce. Nine partners volunteered for twenty-five hours and the store donated food and supplies.

Museum Board of Directors – Partners volunteered for six hours to plan the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Children’s Museum.

Bois d Arc Bash – Seven partners volunteered for ten hours to help set up the regional event in the town square. They helped set up the tent and get ready for the weekend’s events.

Tigerfest – Annual event that is held in the store’s parking lot. It is a day designated for the Commerce community to raise money to support the different student organizations at the local high school.

Relay for Life – Twenty-three partners participated in the annual Relay for Life that was held at Texas A & M Commerce. They sold drinks and cleaned up in support of the American Cancer Society. The Brookshire team raised almost $500.00 for this event.

Daddy Daughter Dance – Event was held at N. E. Texas Children’s Museum and is one of the biggest fundraisers for the Museum. This event helps to sustain its functions and ability to serve the region’s children. Partners helped set up, supervised tables and reserved the Museum for the next day.

Bois d’Arc Bash – Partners volunteered over 25 hours helping set up tables and tents for the annual bash. Brookshire’s was $500.00 sponsor for the event.

School Tour – The store had six third grade classes that toured the store. After the tour each child was handed a goodie bag. Partners volunteered many hours to the school.

Tiger Fest – Event was held in the parking lot of the store and involved numerous activities that are open to the public. Partners volunteered to run the games. All proceeds benefited Commerce Independent School District for field trips and activities throughout the school year.

Wildfires – Partners formulated an effort to bring aid to the victims of the fires. They donated over 3 hours of their time.

Relay for Life – Our partners volunteered over 177 hours for this event. The store donated many of the food items for the event.

Party at the Park – Four partners volunteered their time for this event. The proceeds help fund the construction of a skate park in Commerce. They volunteered 30 hours.

Cumby Elementary School – In honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday partners were asked to read books to the students in the third grade. Also, partners spoke with Cumby High School about Brookshire Grocery Company. They volunteered over 16 hours of their time.

Community Wide Food Drive  – The store hosted a community wide food drive to assist the local food pantry with food donations. 3 partners came in on their day off and volunteered to help.

Salvation Army Bell – Partners donated over 25 hours of their time assist the Salvation Army Ringing the Bell during Christmas.  Two partners played their instruments in addition to ringing the bell.

National Night Out – Event was held in the store parking lot. The store donated multiple food items for this event. Police and Fire department were present. The event reached out to the community and got entire families involved in the fun. They donated over 58 hours for this event.

Update your Network – Held on the Texas A & M University in Commerce and purpose of event was for the community to reach out to the students on campus. Each department leader of the store presented what their department does each day.

Stuff The Bus –  Partners joined forces with the Chamber of Commerce and Commerce ISD in the Stuff the Bus Campaign. Bags were stuffed at the store with various school supplies and sold for $5.00. This program is designed to aid the less fortunate school children in the area. The store sold 280 bags.

Commerce High School Back To School Lock-In – Our partners prepared goody bags and represented Brookshire’s at this recent event. They passed out over 200 bottles of water, 200 Brookshire recyclable bags, fruit, chips, notepads and pens. There were over 300 students and parents in attendance and they were all very excited to receive the items our partners were handing out.

Adoption Drive – Brookshire’s partnered with the Commerce Animal Shelter from 9 am – 12 pm. There were 3 pets adopted with more hopefully to come with the news of the shelter being spread. Partners donated 12 hours for this event.

Kid’s Day – Store hosted a Kid’s Day for the children of the community. They had volunteers from the police, fire and EMT dept. from 10 am – 3 pm. They showed the kids the fire truck, police car, ambulances and even a Care Flight helicopter. Partners from the store ran booths with various games and gave the kids prized donated by vendors.

All You Can Eat Crawfish Boil – The store hosted an all you can eat crawfish boil in front of the store. 4 partners combined with Fruge Seafood Company offered an exciting traditional dining experience.  They provided an authentic Cajun environment and Cajun music was always. Customers enjoyed an eye opening experience to a new culture that is not so common in this area.  All proceeds from the cook off were donated to the Commerce Animal Shelter.
