School Tour – Eight Boy Scouts toured the store and earned their badge for food safety. They were there to learn how food arrives, unloaded and stored. One partner volunteered for eight hours to assist the Boy Scouts.

Meet the Coyotes – Two partners went to the school when they introduced the players to the community. They set up and handed out balloons and ring pops to all the kids. Partners volunteered for six hours.

Kid’s I.D. Fair – Two partners handed out Brookshire items and helped the police department with their annual KID’S I.D. Fair. There for were for about 10 hours. They had over 225 kids attend.

Boy Scout Hot Dog Sale – Two partners helped set up and replenish supplies for the hot dog sale for twelve hours. All proceeds benefitted Anna Boy Scout Troops.

Kidsfest – Sixteen partners volunteered to assist with the annual Kidsfest held in the stores parking lot The volunteered for ninety hours preparing for the event and the event itself. They had games, cupcake walk, free root beer floats and other things.

Anna Booster Club – Two partners set up a booth at the 5K Run sponsored by the Anna Booster Club. They handed out Brookshire water to the runners for about two hours at the middle and end of the run.

Kids ID Fair – Two partners attended the annual Kids ID fair at the Anna Police Dept. They handed out school supplies, Kid’s Club booklets and NuVal kids information.

Local Elementary School – Two partners read books at three local elementary schools for two hours over three days. Also, they took Brookshire trinkets to pass out to students.

KidsFest – Fifteen partners volunteered over fifty-five hours to assist with the 5th Annual Kidsfest held at the stores parking lot. There were over 500 kids that participated. They had booths for several activities.

PTA Meetings – Partners went to the local elementary school PTA meeting and let all the members decorate their own cupcake after the meeting. Six partners volunteered for three hours.

August 10, 2013
Anna Youth Sports Association – Partners helped set up and donated all of the money they sold from concession items to the football and cheerleader teams. They raised over $800.00 and 3 partners volunteered for 10 hours each.

School Tour – Over 90 children and 8 teachers from two daycares were given a tour of the store. Three partners handled the tours and each child was given a reusable bag with goodies.

Read to Students – Store Director Donald Nutt volunteered for three hours reading books to students at the local elementary school.

KIDFEST – The store held their 4th Annual KIDSFEST in the parking lot of the store. Twenty partners volunteered for over one hundred hours. There were over four hundred kids that participated.

Decorate Cakes – Seventeen partners went to local schools and daycares in Anna and assisted six hundred children in decorating cakes for Mother’s Day. They volunteered for approximately forty hours.

School Tour – The local elementary school sent the entire 2nd grade to tour the store. A total of one hundred twenty students were given a tour of the entire store and then Truck Driver Thes Freeney arrived with his truck and let the kids go in the trailer and the cab. Also, he did a safety class for the students.

Anna Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet – Store Director Donald Nutt was awarded Citizen of the Year during the annual banquet.

Elementary School – Store Director Donald Nutt volunteered to read to students from two local elementary schools for three hours.

Coyote Bash – Two partners participated in Joe K. Bryant Coyote Bash to raise money for their PTA.  They volunteered for ten hours setting up a goal and let the kids kick field goals with the big blow up footballs. During the event they raised $210.00.

PTA Meeting – Brookshire’s provided cupcakes for the students, teachers and parents to decorate after the PTA meeting. Five partners assisted the school with decorating seventy-five cupcakes for this event.

November 8, 2012
Decorated Cupcakes – The local elementary school had a contest that rewarded the class that raised the most box tops with a trip to Brookshire’s to decorate their own Yum’s Cupcakes. Partners volunteered for five hours to assist twenty-three students decorate the cupcakes.

Anna Glowfest – 27th Annual Chamber of Commerce had their annual Glowfest with hot air balloons and Brookshire’s set up a tent and had a musical chair contest for kid’s. Partners gave away prizes to the winners from 11 am – 7 pm and they volunteered for fifty hours.

School Tour – 100 elementary students from Van Alstyne toured the store. Each class went through the entire store and was given an opportunity to check out groceries and then bag the items. Partners treated them to snacks and volunteered for twenty hours.

Fall Festival – Brookshire donated a $50.00 gift card for the silent auction at the festival. Also, partners set up a dancing booth with amp and speakers for the kids. All proceeds benefited the local PTA. They volunteered fifteen hours.

Frontier Days – Partners handed out Brookshire bags and information on Your Points. They volunteered for twenty hours at this event.

KidsFest – There were over 500 children that participated in the 3rd Annual KidsFest. Partners volunteered for eighty hours to help set up, man booths and take down. They raised over 400 lbs. of food for the local food bank.

Ratten Elementary Tour – One hundred second graders were given a tour of the store by department heads. Also, they were able to sit in a Brookshire truck, honk the horn and go into the back of the truck. Partners volunteered for fifteen hours showing the children around and getting prepared for their visit.

Mother’s Day Cake Decorating – Sixteen partners helped children with over six hundred and fifty cake orders from the two local elementary schools. Partners helped out at two locations.

1st Grade – Store Director Donald Nutt took time to read to the entire 1st grade class. After he read a book about a grocery store he had a question and answer session.

PTA – To help support Sue B. Rattan Elementary School partners set up after the PTA meeting and provided the kids and parents the opportunity to decorate their very own Yums cupcake. They helped decorate 87 cupcakes and partners volunteered for 8 hours.

Anna Christmas Parade – Store Director Donald Nutt dressed as the Grinch for the annual parade in downtown Anna. Partners walked and pushed a cart handing out candy. Six partners volunteered twelve hours.

October 27, 2011
Fall Carnival – The carnival was held at KcKillop Elementary School. Two partners set up a football throw and gave away Brookshire footballs. On the same night at JKB Elementary School in Anna partners set up a X-box kinect and let the kids play sports and gave away candy as prizes. All proceeds from carnivals went back to the schools. They volunteered for 17 hours.

Chili Cook Off – Store Director Donald Nutt was a judge for the chili cook off and all proceeds went to the Anna Food Pantry that provides food for the needy. The event raised over $1,500.00. All winners were awarded a Brookshire Gift Card.

Glowfest – Partners set up a tent and had a cakewalk for the kids and Halloween treat bags for the kids. Was the biggest turn out for the festival since it’s inception.

Van Alstyne Tour – Over 100 students, parents and teachers came for the annual tour of the store. Partners took them on a tour of the entire store and they were given a goody bag. They volunteered over 15 hours for this tour.

Greater Anna Chamber of Commerce Recognition Banquet – Our partners in Anna were awarded the large business of the year. Collin County Commissioner Joe Jaynes made the presentation and mentioned the involvement in the community.

Chili Cook Off – Produce Manager participated in a local chili cook off as a judge. He spent 3 hours helping judge for the Anna Methodist Community event.

Yum’s Cupcake Contest – The local elementary school held a contest that the class that raised the most General Mills Box Tops for the month of October would win a trip to Brookshire’s to decorate their very Yum’s Cupcakes.

Halloween – Several partners dressed up and handed out candy to the kids who came trick or treating. The community loved having a safe place for the kids to trick or treat.

Rattan School Tour – More than 100 students toured every department in the store. Each student was given a reusable bag and each department gave them a free item. The students liked the freezer out of all the departments.

Kidsfest – 1st Kidsfest was held in the store parking lot with many children attending. Partners donated many hours handing out many free items, assisting with games and gave away many prizes including season passes to Six Flags.

Van Alstyne Elementary School Tour – Partners treated the school to a tour of the store. Over 100 students walked the store and stopped at each department for a brief overview of the department.  Also, they toured the coolers and freezers.
