Healthy Living: Party Pitfalls

Party TrayI went to a Christmas party last night, and I’m pretty sure I ate my weight in quesadillas, meatballs, cheese squares, stuffed potatoes and mini cupcakes.

Let’s face it, those weren’t healthy choices.

Sure, there were huge platters of brilliantly colored fruits and vegetables. Did I choose those? Nope.

I should have.

It’s hard to avoid party pitfalls during the holiday season.

There are so many tempting treats out there.

However, I also really like my new red, silk party dress, so perhaps I’d better limit my indulgence to that one party.

Next time, I think I’ll eat before I go to the party. I was SO HUNGRY by the time I got there that I shoveled the food onto my plate.

Or, I’ll opt for the fruit and veggies.

I also noticed the hostess had set out two different sized plates. I took the big one, the dinner plate size. I should have gone for the lunch plate; it was only about half the size of the plate I took.

Sipping water throughout the party would have filled me up too AND kept one hand occupied so I couldn’t reach that extra meatball.

Next time, I’ll know.
