We welcome your questions, whether they’re in-person at the bakery, or emailed through our website. And since some questions are asked often, we want to share them here, to save you time and trouble.
Q: How much lead time do you need for bakery orders?
A: A day is generally fine, so that we can take care of all the details. If your order is large or complicated, we’d appreciate more time, though. Our bakery partners are fully trained, but on occasion we like to collaborate with other experts. For wedding cakes, we ask for a week, especially if your cake involves special features, fondant, or cake toppers.
Q: You make wedding cakes?
A: Absolutely! We have a full range of cake styles and flavors, including bridal, groom’s and rehearsal dinner cakes. Because we’re your local grocer, we know the community where you live, and we can suggest ideas to help make your big event one to remember. We prefer to have a week’s notice in order to give you the cake of your dreams, but if it’s an emergency situation, let us know. We’ll do our best to meet and exceed your expectations!
Q: Do you carry organic and all-natural products?
A: Sure we do! We have a full line of Rudy’s Organics, which are top-of-the-line in both freshness and quality. We carry and bake a wide selection of no-sugar-added and sugar-free products as well. Our own BGC Manufacturing plant in Tyler, Texas bakes sugar-free angel food and crème cakes. We have a great selection of muffins, cookies, breads and other items that appeal to discriminating shoppers.
Q: Can you help shoppers with special dietary needs?
A: We’ll do our very best. If your concerns are sodium, sugar, additives or gluten, let us know and we’ll direct you to the best choices, or perhaps even make a special order for you.
Q: What about party trays?
A: We have a brochure at our stores and on the website that show all of our offerings. Some of the more popular trays include cookies, bagels, croissants, sliced crème cakes, and Nanaimo bars—which you have to try to fully appreciate. Our party trays can team up with deli and produce trays to create a full party lineup. Many of our trays are available on the spot, but if you have a large event, we appreciate a day’s advance notice.
Q: Do you bake your own products?
A: It’s a combination. Some of our offerings come to us from wholesale bakeries, but we bake many items onsite at most of our stores. Check out our mouth-watering cinnamon rolls, French bread, croissants, gourmet cookies, turnovers and fruit sticks—just like Mom used to make, and maybe even better (depending on how good a cook your Mom was)!
Q: Do you have any special treats I should know about?
A: Here’s one: La Brea hearth breads. These baked goods are all-natural, whole-grain, rustic and oh-so-delicious. If you like healthy but unbelievably tasty breads, you’ll be amazed and impressed with these gems. La Brea products can be hard to find, and we’re proud to be one of their limited distributors. The quality and popularity is unmatched—ask for a sample to taste for yourself! Check out the details at La Brea’s website and also in another web feature on this web site. Not all of our stores carry La Brea hearth breads, so if they’re not available where you shop, please ask for them.
