Throughout the 2015 football season Brookshire volunteers worked for 45 hours serving in the visitor’s side

Band Backers Concession Stand – Three partners volunteered for 12 hours manning the concession stand on the visitors side of the stadium.

Community Pep Rally – Eight partners volunteered for 16 hours during the community pep rally. They cooked and served hotdogs to the players, coaches, cheerleaders and the band.

May 16, 2015
Fishing with Mom Event – Clifton Elementary and Rangers of the Lake Whitney State Park held Fishing with Mom event. Partners cooked and served hotdogs, chips and drinks to mom and students at the event. They volunteered for nine hours.

April 24, 2015
Relay for Life – Six partners refreshments and raised funds to donate to their Relay for Life goal. They volunteered for eight hours.

April 11, 2015
Whitney Youth Sports Association Opening Day Events – Partners prepared and served hot dogs and drinks to players and coaches prior to the game. They volunteered for three hours.

May 2, 2015
Troup Rotary Club – Two partners participated in the annual Troup Crawfish Boil. They volunteered to box up crawfish and verified orders for six hours.

April 29, 2015
Culinary Class – Three partners assisted the Family and Consumer Sciences Culinary Class with icing and decorating single layer cakes. They had fifty-seven students and volunteered for six hours.

Rusk County Expo – Two partners attended the Rusk County Expo for six hours.

October 4, 2014
Pioneer Days – Nine partners set up a booth and sampled baked treats and eats available in the bakery dept. Also, they had a bean-bag toss for kids of all ages to test their skills and win prizes. They volunteered for eighty-two hours.

Whitney Athletic Booster Club – Two partners volunteered for nine hours assisting in the concession stand during their first home game.

Lake Whitney Kid Fish – Two partners volunteered to assist kids with the annual Kid’s Fish Day at Lake Whitney.

Whitney Public Library Move In – Two partners volunteered for eight hours assisting the public library with moving in.

C.O.W. Fest – Job Fair – Three partners volunteered for fifteen hours to assist with the job fair.

Whitney Youth Association – Opening Day – Ten partners volunteered for thirty hours during the youth opening day.

West Clean-Up – Three partners volunteered for 20 hours to help the town of West clean up after the disaster.

Lake Whitney State Park Kid Fishing Tournament – Partners prepared over 100 hot dogs for participants and guests at the annual event.

Barn Dance – Partners volunteered their time to serve the children of Whitney Intermediate School at their annual Barn Dance. This provided the teachers and staff the freedom to interact with the students and oversee the dance.

Emergency Mgmt. Response Training – Partners participated in training for local Emergency Response Teams. This gave them a chance to put their training and skills to work. Eight partners volunteered for six hours to assist.

November 2, 2012
Wounded Warriors Hunt – Store Director Jason Bearden and Produce Manager Steve Jones dedicated fifty hours of their time over two days assisting in preparing and serving meals, guiding participants on hunts, retrieving kills, setting up and taking down the camp site for Wounded Warriors. Brookshire’s donated water and a portion of the meals.

Concession Stand – Partners volunteered to assist in the concession stand for the Whitney Wildcat Athletic Booster Club. They volunteered for ten hours.

Concession Stand – Three partners volunteered to work in the Whitney Wildcat Athletic Booster Club during the football games.

October 6, 2012
Pioneer Days – Twelve partners volunteered over seventy-five hours for the annual event. They set up a canopy and sold baked items and had a beanbag toss with all proceeds benefiting the local food bank.

Lake Whitney State Park Kids Fish – Lake Whitney State Park rangers and Brookshire’s volunteers offered the youth the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors through fishing. Partners assisted baiting hooks, releasing fish and provided a hotdog lunch for those in attendance.

Blood Drive – Brookshire’s hosted Carter Blood Care in the parking lot for the convenience of blood donors. Fifteen partners helped for 10 hours.

Elementary Sleep Over – Brookshire’s helped sponsor the annual Sleep Over. They supplied the hot dogs and chaperoned the event. They volunteered for 18 hours. 

December 10, 2011
Adopt a Grandparent – During the Christmas holidays partners volunteered for 25 hours and visited nursing homes and handed out gifts to the elderly.

November and December
Wounded Warriors – Brookshire’s co-sponsored the deer hunt with the corp. of engineers for wounded soldiers. They volunteered 119 hours and helped take them to the stands, picked up and cleaned animals, cooked and fed soldiers and volunteers, processed animals, bagged meat for freezer and got animals mounted by donations.

Fundraiser for partner – Partners hosted a softball tournament as a fundraiser for partners family.

Football Player Outing – With the weather being in triple digits and a 2 a day practice players were taken to the lake. Partners volunteered to serve watermelon and drinks to the players.

Water Safety Awareness – Event taught water and boater safety to children was held at Loafers Bend Park on Lake Whitney. Volunteers from the store passed out bottled water.

Softball Tournament – Partners volunteered over 144 hours for a benefit to help a partner at the store.

Kid Fish – Partners from the store helped the children fish and cooked hot dogs for 40 children. They volunteered over 9 hours for the event.

Carnival of Games – Held in the store parking lot. Partners assisted not for profit organizations.

Mother’s Day Cakes – Partners volunteered their time to help school children decorate Mother’s Day cakes.

Wounded Warriors Bike Run – The bike run from Austin to Arlington to help rehab wounded warriors. Partners cut and packaged oranges for participants.

Whitney High School Field Day – Partners spent the day painting dugouts and working on the field.

Whitney Elementary School Sleepover – Partners served hotdogs and drinks to 120 perfect attendance children. Also, they assisted with other activities during this event.

Christmas Food Drive – For the annual Christmas Food Drive partners assisted loading, hauling and sorting food drive donations.

Wounded Warriors Hunt – Partners helped cater and serve 10 wounded service men as they attended a guided hunt sponsored by the Army Corp. of Engineers.

Community Bon Fire – Store partners helped organize and volunteer with the Whitney High School Homecoming Bonfire held at Lake Whitney Polaris. Partners tossed footballs into the crowd when they scored a touchdown during the football game.

Pioneer Day Parade – The store had a float in the parade and passed out candy.

Community Pep Rally – Partners helped sponsor a pep rally in the parking lot of the store. They served hot dogs and drinks to everyone.

Habitat for Humanity – Partners donated over 12 hours for this project. They provided drinks and snacks for helpers.

WYA Softball Tournament – Partners supported and played in the local softball tournament held in Whitney. They had 15 partners that participated.

Carnival of Games – Brookshire’s hosted a carnival of games in the parking lot recently to benefit local non-profit groups in the area. They had horseback rides, ring toss, cookie walk, basketball toss and many other games and foods to choose from. Many area groups benefited from this.

Kid Fish – Partners baited hooks, took fish off hooks and measured the fish for Kid Fish. They also provided hot dogs, soda and water to the kids during the tournament.

Health Clinic – Partners teamed with other groups in Whitney and helped sponsor a health fair at the elementary school.

Plant a Tree for Earth Day – 4 Partners planted a tree for Earth Day at Whitney Elementary School.

Opening Day of Baseball –  The store along with other businesses donated hot dogs, sodas and water on opening day of baseball season.

MDA Lockup – Partners assisted with the MDA Lockup. Several employees were locked up and helped raise money for the MDA. They donated 30 of their time.

Business Panel Speaker – Store Director James Jones spoke to the Junior Class at Whitney High School during the Junior Class Career Day.
