Delivered Meals on Wheels – At various times during these two weeks two partners volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels to the elderly in the community for three hours.

September 12, 2015
Pioneers and Old Settlers Parade – Five partners prepared and served hot dogs to guests after the parade. The event was held in the Brookshire’s parking lot.

Meals on Wheels – Three partners volunteered on various days to deliver meals to the elderly for six hours.

August 13, 2015
Chamber of Commerce – Five partners prepared and served lunch at the Chamber of Commerce meeting for two hours. The event was held at Alvarado Jr. High School.

Meals on Wheels – Three partners delivered meals to the elderly in the community at various times during the month for six hours.

April 15 – June 20, 2015
Meals on Wheels – Four partners volunteered each week to take meals to the elderly in the community through the Meals on Wheels program.

March 28, 2015
Easter Fun Day – Partners held an Easter Fun day in the parking lot of the store. The local Cub Scouts sold hot dogs, chips and drinks with all proceeds benefitting the Cub Scout organization. The fire and police department gave the kids a tour of the truck and cruiser. The Easter Bunny was a big hit with the kids. Four partners made the day a success.

Bootin’ Out Cerebral Palsy 5K – Four partners grilled and served hot dogs to participants in the 5K run/walk for 36 hours. All proceeds benefited the Scottish Rite Hospital for children.

Check Presentation – During the Alvarado High School football game, three partners presented a check for $1,000 to Alvarado High School Sports.

Lillian Elementary School – Three partners prepared five hundred hot dogs for the end of school picnic. They volunteered for 19 hours.

Bootin’ Out  Cerebral Palsy 5K Walk – Four partners volunteered for 24 hours preparing and serving hot dogs for 500 participants of the walk. All proceeds benefited Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.

Santa Claus – Brookshire volunteers helped Santa pass out gifts for the graduating class. They took pictures and framed them. Four partners volunteered for six hours.

Alvarado Football Team – During the playoffs Brookshire sponsored hamburgers for the football team. Partners volunteered eight hours to cook and serve the hamburgers.

November 19, 2011
Boy Scout Soap Box Derby – Each Scout is given a block of wood made of pine, four plastic wheels and four nails and when finished the car must use all nine pieces, must not exceed a certain weight, must not exceed a certain length and must fit on the track used by that particular scout pack. Partners volunteered 30 hours for this event.

Meals on Wheels – Partners volunteered 42 hours for Meals on Wheels, many times delivering on their lunch break. Meals On Wheels delivers hot, nutritious meals to the elderly, disabled, and homebound in the Greater Alvarado area each day.

Cub Scouts Car Derby – Partners assisted with the annual Derby. They volunteered over 21 hours.

July 16, 2011
Synergy Shuffle 5K – Partners volunteered at the second annual 5K run. They served water and bananas to the runners. All proceeds benefited Bowie ISD Elementary and Intermediate Physical Education Programs.

Alvarado Old Settlers Reunion – Event is held yearly with parade that ended in the Brookshire parking lot. Alvarado Road Show band played a concert in the store’s parking lot.

Kid’s Safety Awareness – Alvarado police and fire department set up booths at the store to promote safety with the children. Also, they had a motorcycle display and gave away hot dogs and drinks.

At the Chamber of Commerce Crawfish Boil, three employees anchored the first spring arts festival at the town’s square and cooked crawfish.
