Polar Plunge – Partners were asked to donate $50.00 to the Special Olympics and then they are to jump into the frozen lake. This is a yearly event that draws in hundreds. There were three partners that participated from the East Harding Avenue location volunteering nine hours. This was a small discomfort compared to what the impaired endure each day.

Salvation Army – During the month of December several partners from all locations volunteered to ring the Salvation Army Bell in front of the stores. This is the annual Salvation Army fundraiser for the year and partners volunteered over fifty hours.

Kids Fest – Our locations on Camden Rd., Dollarway Rd. and E. Harding Ave. participated in a Kids Fest in Whitehall. They volunteered over seventy-five hours grilling and handing out hot dogs and Brookshire’s trinkets. The event was from 7 am – 5 pm.

Polar Bear Plunge – This is a unique way for partners from our East Harding location to support Special Olympic athletes by jumping into the Arkansas River at Regional Park. Proceeds support year-round training and athletic competition for more than 14,000 children and adults with mental disabilities who participate in Special Olympics Arkansas.

Christmas Basketball Tournament – Partners from our Camden Rd. location volunteered 276 hours working the concession stand during the tournament. Many of the partners worked both days from 4 pm to 10 pm.

Woodlawn Elementary Spring Fling – Partners from our Camden Rd. location helped Woodlawn Elementary raise money to go to Magic Springs at the end of the year. They worked in the concession and helped man some of the booths.

Lending A Helping Hand – Over 63 hours were donated by partners at the yearly Pine Bluff Zebra Invitational Tournament. It consisted of 10 teams from around the area.

Woodlawn Jr. Varsity Football Games – Each Thursday night football game for Woodlawn J.V. games partners prepared a meal to feed the team in the school’s cafeteria. On away games they would prepare the team a sack lunch.

Outdoor Chili Contest – Partners from our East Harding location participated in this event that raised money for underprivileged families in the Pine Bluff area. They were voted as the People’s Choice Award and also came in second place the judging contest.

Partners from the store made and served a sack lunch to the jr. high football team and coaching staff. The players were given a drink and snack after the game for the long ride home.

All Star Day. Partners donated their time to sell hot dogs, chips and drinks in the parking lot with all proceeds going to the White Hall All Stars Team. Also, they had a watermelon-eating contest. The winners took home a $25.00 gift card.
