Chamber of Commerce Easter Egg Hunt – Four partners helped with hiding 5,000 Easter eggs and helping keep the organization while the hunt was going on. The purpose of the event was to provide the children of Upshur County a chance to hunt Easter eggs and win prizes.

Falltastic Festival – Seven partners volunteered for three hours to work a booth where they handed out candy and treats along with some games that were set up for kids to play. The purpose of the event is to provide a carnival atmosphere and to give kids an alternative to trick or treating.

Gilmer Pep Rally – A partner handed out the Extrapoint cards and explained the benefits of having customer’s text the word for their school. This was done at the pep rally that was sponsored by the newly constructed credit union next to the store.

Fireworks Show – Fourteen partners and family members assisted the Yamboree Association, Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club during the fireworks show. They handed out ice cream, water, popcorn at the VIP section of the show.

Gilmer Intermediate – Partners adopted a class at the intermediate school and taught the children how to make ice cream in a Ziploc bag. Each student was given and recipe and instructions so they can make the ice cream at home.

Change the World Bike Ride – A partner volunteered to participate in the bike ride. All proceeds benefitted the Refugee International in Gilmer. It was a thirty-six mile bicycle ride that took three hours.

Gilmer Intermediate – Partners have a monthly event with their adopted class at Gilmer Intermediate. Two partners taught them how to make Coke and Root Beer floats. They volunteered for three hours.

Mayors On Wheels – Store Director Damon Nichols is the Mayor of Arp and participated in Mayors On Wheels. He delivered Meals on Wheels to the citizens of Arp on the program. He volunteered for three days.

Gilmer Elementary – Brookshire’s sponsored a pizza party for the winning class that brought the most food during the Spirit of Christmas Food Drive. The winning class gathered over 650 canned goods for the Food Pantry in town.

Food Bank – Partners delivered and sorted items at the local Food Bank for the Christmas boxes to the needy.

Gilmer Elementary School – Brookshire’s teamed with Gilmer Elementary and did a food drive for Thanksgiving. They supplied boxes and labor and the school raised the canned good for the local Food Pantry. Three partners volunteered for 10 hours.

Treats on the Square – A citywide event where businesses set up on and around the courthouse square and have games and hand out candy. Partners set up a booth and eight partners volunteered for 24 hours.

Gladewater Round-Up Rodeo – Partners volunteered in the Hospitality Pavilion during the rodeo for 45 hours. They were responsible for making sure everyone involved with the rodeo were fed and taken care of.

Relay for Life – The store raised $1,900 for their Relay for Life goal. Had fourteen partners that participated for 129 hours of service. All proceeds benefited the American Cancer Society.
