When you shop, do you see signs (often in the produce area) saying foods are locally grown? Many folks prefer to buy local items. Have you thought about it?
Most food items travel thousands of miles to get from the farm to your table. Just think about it: grapes from South America, fish from New Zealand….it's a United Nations at the grocery store!
* Freshness: Fruits and vegetables start losing nutrients the moment they're picked. That means the longer it spends in transit, the less nutritive value it has.
* Save fuel: Think of the wasted fuel needed for food to travel the thousands of miles to get to you!
*Eat seasonal: Summertime is prime time for berries, so that's the perfect time to enjoy them in all their ripe, sweet freshness! Local produce means it's always at its prime.
When you shop with us, you will see signs pointing out our locally grown items. It's a great way to support the local economy, but you'll be doing other good things at the same time!
