Brookshire Grocery Co. truck drivers have once again outperformed drivers from other companies at state competitions.
Huey Davenport, Brian Brown and Tony Hester from BGC’s Monroe Distribution Center each captured first place in the flatbed, 4-axle and 5-axle van divisions, respectively, at the Louisiana Motor Transportation Association's competition held June 6-7 in Baton Rouge. Along with Dan Pereira (second place, sleeper division), Salvador Mora and Marvin Miles, the group won the overall state team competition with the most points.
Francis Matlock from the company’s Tyler Distribution Center placed first in the 5-axle division and was named the overall state truck driving champion at Texas Motor Transportation Association's competition held June 13-14 in College Station. Van Trimble won first place in the best pre-trip division and technician David Jackson won first place in the tire trouble-shooting division.
Matlock, Davenport, Brown and Hester have qualified for the American Transportation Association’s national competition set for Houston, Texas, in August.
"Our team consistently ranks at the top of the class in the trucking industry, and we're fortunate to have partners who make safety and professionalism their top priorities," said Scott Reily, vice president of logistics for BGC. "We know they will represent us well at nationals."
