Treat Your Dog to Homemade Dog TreatsWe love our pets. Some folks are even accused of trying to turn dogs into people, and the pampered pooches are happy to go along with the idea! So it only goes to figure that doting dog lovers would enjoy creating homemade goodies for their pets.

Take a look at our recipes below, and adapt to your dog's particular tastes. Always be sure to check all ingredients (especially prepared foods such as baby food) to be sure that onions are not present. Onions, chocolate, grapes and raisins can be very toxic to dogs!

Gingerbread Dog Biscuits

1/2 cup molasses

3 Tbsp honey

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1/2 cup water

3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for rolling

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp ground cloves

1 tsp ground ginger

Preheat oven to 350° F. Lightly grease 2 cookie sheets or line with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, combine molasses, honey, oil and water.

In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and ginger. Stir the dry mixture into the molasses mixture until well-blended.

On a lightly floured surface, knead and roll out the dough to 1/4-inch thickness, using more flour if necessary to prevent the dough from sticking. Use a cookie cutter to cut into shapes. Transfer to the cookie sheets and bake for 20 minutes, until lightly browned. Cool completely on racks; store in an airtight container.
