Take Your Snack With You!

If you're on the go, or in the office, you can get mighty hungry. Here are a few snacks that combine good carbs with protein. That's the magic combination for good-for-you snacking! Dairy products are at the center, because they combine high-quality protein with calcium. Calcium has been found to help in weight loss, in addition to keeping bones strong.

 

Whole-grain crackers and string cheese: the crackers offer fiber and good, whole-grain carbs, and the cheese add hunger-zapping protein.

            • Yogurt Smoothie and a banana: Look in the dairy section for bottled yogurt smoothies with about 100 calories. They'll provide calcium and protein and the banana will give you energy and vitamins.
            • An apple and skim milk: Lots of vitamins, protein, good carbs and fiber for less than 200 calories. You can't go wrong!
            • Whole-grain bagel and low-fat cream cheese: make it a half bagel if they're large, because this combo has staying power.
