City officials and Brookshire Grocery Co. leaders were on hand for a ribbon-cutting ceremony Dec. 17 at the new Brookshire’s store in Canton, Texas, a 36,000-square-foot replacement store for the former location. Official grand opening activities will begin in January.
Customers now have the added convenience of a pharmacy with dual drive-through lanes and a fuel center, along with access to a larger variety of products — many of which are natural and organic items. New features also include a dining counter in the deli/bakery area.
Brookshire’s “greenest” facility to date, this new store offers environmentally friendly and energy efficient features including natural lighting from skylights, an automated lighting control system, low-maintenance concrete flooring, roofing with the highest reflectance rating, a metal-faced interior wall panel system, and an electronic refrigeration control system.
“We’ve had the privilege of serving customers in the Canton community for more than 20 years, and we are excited to open this beautiful, highly sustainable new store here,” said Rick Rayford, president and CEO. “I know our great team of employees in Canton will continue in their commitment to make this store a great place to work and a great place to shop.”
