Metabolic syndrome isn't actually a disease, but a collection of conditions that—when grouped together—raise your risk of heart disease and diabetes.

 

Those conditions include:

*high blood sugar

*high blood pressure

* excess abdominal (belly) fat

* high LDL cholesterol

* high triglycerides

 

If you have three or more of these conditions, doctors will diagnose you with metabolic syndrome and urge you to take action before life-threatening conditions develop.

 

What can you do? The easiest approach is to prevent the syndrome from developing in the first place, but if you find yourself dealing with these issues, take steps to lose weight, improve your diet and increase your activity. Talk with your doctor about preventing metabolic system…before he ends up talking to you about treatment plans!
