For special occasions like Thanksgiving, you like to pull out all the stops. Appetizers are a great way to add an elegant touch to the day, and nothing beats a tray of crackers and veggies surrounding a tasty cheese ball. It's an easy way to provide hunger-busting protein while everyone waits for the turkey to finish roasting.
Our cheese ball recipe is low in carbohydrates and also lower in calories and fat than traditional cheese dishes. Give it a try!
Cheese Ball
A Brookshire's Best Recipe
Prep time: 15 minutes, plus chilling time
Ingredients:
2 (8 ounce) packages reduced-fat cream cheese, softened
3 1/2 cups shredded reduced-fat sharp cheddar cheese
1 (1 oz) packet dry Ranch salad dressing mix
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
4 pecan halves
In a large bowl, mix the cream cheese, Cheddar cheese and dressing mix. Form into one large ball or log, or two smaller balls. Roll in chopped pecans. Decorate the top with pecan halves.
Refrigerate at least 2 hours or overnight.
