Many people—not just those with diabetes—are trying to lose weight. And most of those dieters complain most about night time hunger and the urge to snack.
If you eat too little during the day, then of course you'll have night hunger. But many people who are eating adequately still find those nighttime hours really tough to deal with on a daily basis.
Here's a hint: try warm, low-cal beverages like tea and diet hot chocolate, and you may be able to calm those cravings. You can also choose a snack that has around 60 - 100 calories. The idea is to choose "smart snacks" that won't blow your diet or bust your waistline.
Here are some smart snacking ideas:
- Fat-free pudding
- Fruit with a teaspoon of sugar-free chocolate syrup drizzled
- Fat-free yogurt
- A cup of low-sodium vegetable or tomato juice
- A cup of skim milk
- 1/2cup frozen grapes
- A single-serve package of lite microwave popcorn
