Create your own Individually Quick Frozen meats!

Why do people like to keep a well-stocked freezer? Two common reasons are for convenience and to help save money. Here’s an idea that will help you do both: create your own IQF meats! Individually Quick Frozen (or IQF) meats, chicken and seafood come in a large package where each piece is separate from the others, instead of frozen in one big block.

Consumers take out as many pieces as they need for a meal, defrost and cook. The rest stay safely frozen until needed. They’re very convenient, easy to use, and economical since there’s less waste—but often these foods are more expensive than regularly packaged meats.

Creative shoppers can always find a way to save money. By freezing meats yourself, and packaging so that they’re as available as IQF, you can take advantage of sales to stock your freezer! To do this, simply wrap individual pieces of meat and poultry in plastic freezer wrap or paper and then pack these into plastic freezer bags.
