Traffic Safety
Make a traffic light by cutting a large rectangle of black paper. Cut three circles to fit on the rectangle to represent the lights: green, yellow and red. Glue the circles in place (red on top, green on the bottom).
Talk about that the colors mean and how the light keeps us safe. Show how red, yellow and green are safety colors used in many other places.
Edible Traffic Lights:
Spread peanut butter on a quarter-section of a graham cracker. Use a red, yellow and green M&M to make the lights.
Make Your Own Stickers!
Stickers are fun! Give your child a sheet of waxed paper for arranging the stickers and you'll have something to keep them occupied for quite a while. Stickers are pricey, though, so here's how you can make your own for a fraction of the cost. And even better: you can customize these stickers to suit your child's interests!
- On a large, adhesive mailing label draw or trace a variety of shapes (hearts, stars, circles, animals).
- Have your child color over the shape with markers, glitter pens or crayons.
- Glue googly eyes on faces or animals.
- Cut out the shapes and presto! Instant stickers!
- Keep a few sheets of blank labels in a diaper bag so that you can make stickers any time you need something to keep your child busy.
- Check out computer stickers. You can print out any picture you find on the Internet!
