If you don’t like chocolate, stop reading. This article is all about chocolate!
There are several different types of chocolate, and you'll find them in many different places in the grocery store. So here are a few tips to help you next time you’re on the hunt for some great chocolate!
Baking Chocolate- also called Baker’s chocolate. Baker’s is also a brand name, so don’t be confused! When a recipe calls for baking chocolate it is referring to either unsweetened chocolate or bittersweet baking chocolate. Don’t substitute for chocolate chips—they don’t melt as easily. Check out the baking aisle for this chocolate that usually comes in squares.
Bittersweet Chocolate- also called semisweet chocolate or dark chocolate. This is not what you bake with. There is a difference in bittersweet chocolate and bittersweet baking chocolate. Bittersweet chocolate is rich, dark chocolate. You can find different dark chocolate options on the candy aisle.
Milk Chocolate- this is what’s in most candy bars. Milk has been added to bittersweet chocolate to make this delectable dessert. Check out the candy aisle for these sweet treats.
Unsweetened Chocolate- this is also called baking chocolate or bitter chocolate. You probably won’t eat this chocolate by itself. It is used to make other types of chocolates. You can find this on the baking aisle.
White Chocolate- is not technically a chocolate because it doesn’t contain any chocolate liquor (not actually a liquor and contains no alcohol, this is the liquid paste form of all chocolate), but it sure is good on dipped pretzels! You can find white chocolate for baking on the baking aisle, or white chocolate treats with the other candy.
