Brookshire Grocery Co. employees and customers raised money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association through the annual Check Out A Cure program in which cashiers sell $1 paper icons.
The effort raised more than $92,000 to provide healthcare, equipment and summer camps for children with neuromuscular diseases throughout Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi.

A check for $80,000, which represents donations from the East Texas Check Out A Cure program in the amount of $27,000 and the Aisles of Smiles program sponsored by Acosta Sales and Marketing in the amount of $53,000 was issued to the MDA.
