Brookshire's World War II Heroes Flight
In appreciation of their selfless service to our country, Brookshire’s is taking 30-35 World War II veterans to Washington DC free of charge to see their monument, the World War II memorial, and other sites.
The trip will occur May 11-12, 2010. The group will depart from Tyler the morning of May 11 via chartered bus and fly from DFW to Reagan National Airport. They will return the evening of May 12. Appropriate guardians will also attend to assist the veterans during the event.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can my wife (husband) go with me?
Unfortunately, no, unless they are also a World War II veteran. The purpose of the trip is to honor veterans. We would love to be able to take spouses. But funds and space are limited. Allowing spouses to attend would mean fewer veterans would be able to visit the memorial.
How much does it cost? Do I need to bring any money?
There is no cost to veterans. Transportation, lodging, meals, and entrance to any facilities will be provided. If you desire to purchase any souvenirs, you will be responsible for that expense.
How is the trip funded?
The cost of the trip is being paid by Brookshire Grocery Company as a thank you to these veterans.
What if I have special medical needs?
Every attempt will be made to accommodate special medical needs. Please provide accurate information on the application so the appropriate preparations can be made.
How do you decide which veterans get to go?
Generally, the first veterans to submit their applications will be selected for the event.
