The 21st annual Brookshire’s Benefit Golf Tournament netted $280,000 for children's charities on Monday, April 27, with simultaneous tournaments held at Cascades, Hollytree Eagle’s Bluff, Garden Valley and Hideaway Country Clubs in or near Tyler, Texas.
The event is one of the largest charity golf tournaments in east Texas with nearly 500 golfers representing approximately 200 of BGC’s vendor companies from across the U.S.
Since its inception the tournament has raised $2.2 million for children's charities and programs such as Children’s Miracle Network, Children’s Advocacy Centers, CASA, Boys and Girls Clubs and numerous others.
A vendor appreciation dinner at Harvey Convention Center followed the tournament with golfers and guests enjoying food and live music and bidding on a host of silent auction items ranging from a team autographed Dallas Stars jersey to a Nintendo Wii game set, gift cards and tool sets.
Guests also witnessed the tournament check presentation made by Brookshire’s CEO Rick Rayford to representatives of local children’s charities, as well as the presentation of tournament team and contest awards.
“We greatly appreciate all the companies and individuals who participate in this fun event,” Rayford said. "Funds raised go to help children in east Texas and other areas where we operate Brookshire's and Super 1 Foods stores. We are fortunate to be able to continue this great tradition of supporting valuable children’s programs in our communities.”
