Brookshire Grocery Co. held a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, June 19, at 1:30 p.m. on the site of the new Brookshire’s Food Store located at 2228 Island Bayou Road in Bonham.
Dirt work began at the site in March, and officials estimate the 36,000 square-foot store will be complete by November. The store, which will replace the existing Brookshire’s, will contain traditional grocery, market, delicatessen, bakery and produce departments, as well as specialty departments such as a floral department, a pharmacy with two drive-thru lanes for convenience and a four-pump gas station.
The new store will offer a variety of Health & Harmony items to meet the needs of the ever-growing health conscious population. Health & Harmony is Brookshire’s line of organic and natural products. For added convenience, the delicatessen will offer a wide assortment of prepared foods, making meal times more convenient for customers.
The new Brookshire’s store will display a décor package customized specifically for Bonham. Pictures and memorabilia from Bonham’s community history will adorn the store’s walls.
