Be the Hero of Your Football Party!

When you go to a football game party, it's hard to say which matters more: the actual game, or the food everybody brings. Lots of folks bring chips and dip, and while there's nothing wrong with that, it's nice to also have several hearty foods to focus on.

Most people shy away from fixing a main course because it's too much work, but here's a great way to make an impressive entrée that is super easy.

Get a large loaf of Italian or French bread. Slice it into sandwich-sized slices, but don't cut all the way through each slice. You'll want them all to stay hinged together in one big fanned-out loaf.

Take your favorite sandwich toppings: ham, turkey, Swiss cheese, Monterrey Jack, hot peppers, light mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles or whatever else you like. Fill every other slice of bread with sandwich toppings. When it's done it will look like this: slice of bread, sandwich toppings, slice, slice, toppings, slice, slice, topping. It's important to have two slices back-to-back without fillings.

If you'd like a melted sandwich, add only the melty ingredients (Meat and cheese), wrap the whole loaf in foil and heat at 350° F for 15 minutes. Unwrap, add in the mayo and veggies and re-seal.

To serve, cut or tear the sandwiches apart where the two slices come together back-to-back without fillings. Each large loaf of bread should make about 8 sandwiches, depending on how large the loaf is, and how thick you slice the bread.

Now that's a sandwich!
