Brookshire Grocery Co. was recently named as one of the Best Companies to Work for in Texas 2009. The Tyler-based grocer has received this honor four years in a row. The awards program was created in 2006 and is a project of TEXAS MONTHLY, the Texas Association of Business (TAB), the Texas State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management (TSC-SHRM) and Best Companies Group.
This statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Texas, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses. The Best Companies to Work for in Texas 2009 list is made up of 100 companies. Brookshire Grocery Co. was selected as a winner in the large business category.
“It is a great honor for Brookshire Grocery Co. to be recognized as one of the Best Companies to Work for in Texas four years in a row,” said Rick Rayford, president and chief executive officer for BGC. “We take great pride in our team spirit and the level of service it allows us to provide our customers. This honor is attributed to all the dedicated employees who make Brookshire Grocery Co. a great place to work.”
Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Companies to Work for in Texas. Approximately 25 percent of the total evaluation consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75 percent of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Texas and also analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings.
Brookshire Grocery Co. will be recognized and honored at the Best Companies to Work for in Texas awards ceremony on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Texas Association of Business 2009 Annual Conference in Austin.
