CHANDLER, Texas, July 8, 2015 – An official ribbon-cutting ceremony today marked the beginning of the grand reopening celebration at the remodeled and expanded Brookshire’s Food and Pharmacy in Chandler. Mayor Libby Fulgham, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Rick Ford addressed the crowd at the ceremony, and Store Director Mike Wilson also presented charitable donations to God’s Open Hands, Chandler Elementary and the Chandler Volunteer Fire Department.
The supermarket reflects a modern design throughout, beginning outside with a new storefront and a single, relocated entrance. Other cosmetic updates include new interior and exterior signage, paint, lighting and décor, along with many energy-efficient and sustainable features such as polished concrete flooring and an automated lighting control system for refrigerated and freezer cases. The new fuel center, which opened in November, allows customers to redeem yourpoints for discounts on gas, while new check stands, new customer restrooms and a new fleet of shopping carts provide additional customer convenience.
More than 10,000 square feet was added to the facility to allow for the expansion of several departments, which now feature a wider variety of products and services. In produce, customers can find more organic selections, as well as fresh-cut fruits and vegetables. The renovated bakery offers tortillas and bolillo rolls baked in-store daily, along with custom cakes for all occasions. In addition to a new seating area to dine in-store, the deli offers customers several ready-to-eat meal options, gourmet deli meats and cheeses sliced to order and a new olive bar. The freshest cuts of meat and seafood are available at the full-service market counter, with custom cuts available upon request. An expanded variety of fine wines and craft beers are available in the updated beer and wine section. Additionally, the store offers more gluten-free products.
Brookshire’s updated pharmacy now features a drive-thru window for customer convenience. The pharmacy will continue to fill name-brand and generic prescriptions, while offering a full selection of non-prescription medicines and health and personal care products. Brookshire’s generic prescription program provides savings on 30-, 60- and 90-day generic prescriptions.
In addition, all BGC stores feature the NuVal nutritional scoring system, which scores food on a scale of 1 to 100. The higher the NuVal score, the better the nutrition. Customers can use this at-a-glance program to easily determine the overall nutritional value of products and make informed decisions.
The grand opening festivities will continue throughout the following weeks with special giveaways and promotions. From July 8-12, the first 500 customers will receive a free item coupon each day starting at 8 a.m. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through July 26, customers who spend $100 or more in a single transaction will receive 1,000 bonus yourpoints (some exclusions apply). In addition, customers who fill new or transferred prescriptions at Brookshire’s pharmacy through Oct. 14 will receive 1,000 free yourpoints. More special offers will be featured in the weekly grocery ads.
