I just forced my kids to go outside.
Hey, it’s not as cruel as it seems. It’s a beautiful fall day in Texas with moderate temperatures and low humidity. They spend so much time inside, between school days and scorching hot weather, that when it’s nice outside, I want them to be outside playing and running around.
I hate to say it, but I think my kids spend more time sitting than they do running around. My older son doesn’t have recess in school anymore and PE is only part of his curriculum for half of the year. My younger son plays outside every day at recess and on a soccer team, but that still doesn’t provide as much physical activity as I’d like them to have.
Did you know the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends ONE HOUR of physical activity PER DAY for children?
Do yours get that much?
Let’s change that.
