Brookshire’s Opens New Store in Joshua

Grand opening celebrations began yesterday for the new Brookshire’s Food Store located at 1001 Joshua Station Blvd. The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held Feb. 13., featured Chamber of Commerce President Kim Henderson, Mayor Joe Hollarn and Brookshire Grocery Co. President and CEO Rick Rayford. In addition, Brookshire’s Store Director Daniel Thomas presented donation checks totaling $1,000 each to Elder Elementary, Joshua Education Foundation and Joshua Fire Department.

The 37,400-square-foot-store replaces the former Brookshire’s store that has operated at 106 Conveyor Dr. since 2005. Brookshire’s is the first business to open in the new Joshua Station property, and includes a fuel center and a drive-thru pharmacy – two services that were previously unavailable.

The facility includes many energy-efficient and sustainable features, such as skylights, an automated lighting control system to reduce electricity use, roofing with the highest reflectance rating and environmentally friendly insulation. Other features include a cutting-edge cooling system that controls refrigerated and frozen foods freezers and coolers, as well as durable, polished concrete flooring that reduces the amount of cleaning agents used.

In addition, the bakery department now offers a wider variety of products, while the deli features a dining area with free Wi-Fi.

“We are very excited to offer the Joshua community a state-of-the-art shopping experience and look forward to serving them here for many years,” Rayford said. “This new facility will allow us to expand our selection and offer many new products and services, and we look forward to the positive impact it will make on the residents of Joshua.”

The grand opening festivities will continue throughout the following weeks with special giveaways and promotions. A total of eight Apple iPads and 50 reusable grocery bags will be given away by March 13 through a sweepstakes customers are entered into by using their Thank You Card. In addition, a free 1,000 yourpoints coupon will be offered to any new or transferred prescriptions filled at Brookshire’s pharmacy. More special offers will be announced in the weekly grocery ads.
