Since July the store in Benton, LA, has been steadily transformed into what now appears to be a completely new supermarket, and a crowd of area officials, business leaders and other customers turned out for the grand reopening on Feb. 2, 2011. The store celebrated with a brunch and a host of product samples throughout the store following a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m.
The 43,000-square-foot store boasts many new features, products and services. The building has been expanded by more than 7,000 square feet to offer additional shopping space. The storefront was completely redone with new logo, signage and an earth-tone color scheme. Floor tile has been removed in most areas and refurbished, leaving an easy-to-maintain polished concrete floor that matches new signage, paint and interior finishes. The project has also given the store seven new check stands, as well as self-checkout lanes.
Specialty areas include a new pharmacy with a drive-through window, bakery, deli, new service meat and seafood, a new floral department staffed by a licensed florist, and a fuel center with a kiosk staffed by an employee during store hours. Other areas enhanced by the remodel include frozen food and produce departments. Also, there is a new seating area for in-store dining.
Events planned during the reopening include a NASCAR show car appearance, health screenings, costume characters and more.
