Brookshire’s Set to Reopen in Shreveport

Officials will begin the grand reopening of the 38,500-square-foot Brookshire’s store on Bert Kouns in Shreveport on Wednesday, January 7, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m.
A major renovation project has given the store a completely different look inside and out, and major improvements include a pharmacy expanded within existing space and remodeled with a new drive-through window, floral department boasting a new work station, and bakery, deli, market and produce departments featuring new cases and increased varieties of products.
“Ever since work started in May we’ve been anxiously awaiting our reopening,” said Kevin Westbrook, store director. “We’re proud of the outcome and look forward to serving customers in a fresh, good-as-new environment.”
Westbrook said he expects customers will appreciate the new flooring, décor and store front designed in earth tones of sage, clay and bronze–something unique in the company’s 156-store grocery chain. He’s also increased the staff by approximately 15 people to offer the best service possible.
The pharmacy’s drive-through, open during pharmacy hours only, provides added convenience as do separate windows inside for prescription drop-off, pick-up and consultation, as well as an extra register. The pharmacy operates 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Complementing the market’s stock of meats are a new seafood case, lobster tank and a new recipe kiosk to offer meal solutions. The deli features a new hot case for entrees and a new cheese case, and the bakery boasts new fresh bread cases. Produce received additional racks to expand its selection with a host of organic and natural items.
The store can now operate nine checkstands with new register systems at the front, including two new self-checkout lanes.
Beer is now stocked in coolers near the back of the store, and wine has been relocated to its own section up front.
The store will operate seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
“When you walk in, you think you’re in a new store. That’s how much work has been done and how we’ve rearranged departments in here,” Westbrook said. “One thing that hasn’t changed is our commitment to taking care of people.”
